Fulltime position (40 hours per week)
Hours: 7 am to 3:30 pm Monday-Friday, occasional weekend work may be required.
Have basic knowledge with the use of hand and power tools.
Be able to work a variety of both mechanical and labor projects.
Basic woodworking skills are helpful.
Torch cutting, welding and metal fabrication are a plus.
Willing to learn the proper methods of railroad related repairs.
Must be willing to work safely as an individual or with fellow employees.
Must be able to lift 60 pounds.
Must possess a current, valid driver license.
Be of a safety mind set for self and others when performing assigned work.
90-day probationary period.
At the Age of Steam Roundhouse Museum self-motivated and enthusiastic undergraduate and graduate students can gain hands on experience by helping with a wide range of duties. Interns interested in public history, steam railroading, or physical science can build a custom experience and take advantage of opportunities to participate in all facets of the Age of Steam Roundhouse Museum as a museum and public history site.
Interns will have opportunities to work in our restoration shop, develop and deliver interpretive programs for guided tours, gain experience with visitor services, and work with our administrative team to gain a better understanding of how public history sites operate.
